HC Drivers – We'll train the right person on the Sideloader

We're looking for a reliable and safety-focused HC Driver / Sideloader Operator to join our Townsville team. While sideloader experience is highly desirable, it is not essential. If you're an experienced HC driver with the right attitude and a strong safety focus, we'll provide training and support to help you develop your sideloader skills.

For drivers who prove themselves, we'll also fund your MC licence upgrade.

About the Role

This is a hands-on transport role operating throughout Townsville and surrounding areas. No two days are the same, with a mix of container, freight and customer deliveries.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate HC prime movers and associated equipment, including sideloaders (training provided if required)

- Load, transport and unload containers and freight safely and efficiently

- Complete client deliveries to designated locations

- Conduct pre-start inspections, vehicle checks and load restraint inspections

- Secure loads in accordance with Chain of Responsibility and Load Restraint Guide requirements

- Complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation accurately and on time

- Maintain the condition and presentation of vehicles and equipment under your care

- Comply with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), fatigue management, vehicle permits, axle weight requirements and company policies





- Follow NSS Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental procedures at all times

- Work effectively both independently and as part of a small team

About You

To be successful, you'll have:

- Current Heavy Combination (HC) Driver Licence (essential)

- Safe driving history and strong commitment to workplace safety

- Good understanding of Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management and load restraint requirements

- Ability to work in a physically demanding role, including manual handling, load restraint activities and climbing in and out of vehicles throughout the day

- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team

- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of your work

Desirable

- Sideloader operating experience or competency (training available for suitable HC drivers)

- MC Driver Licence

- Dangerous Goods (DG) Licence

- Forklift (LF) Licence

- Experience with container transport and bulk freight operations

Successful applicants will be required to provide a driver licence history report, complete a pre-employment functional medical and participate in regular drug and alcohol testing.
