Reception & Administrative Assistant - Psychology

Evo Psychology is a private Psychology practice based in Canberra. We are passionate about supporting and working with all sorts of diverse people - including those who are neurodivergent and/or a part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Join our supportive team, with an authentic, compassionate and inclusive practice culture, and help us continue to provide excellent client care. You will be the first point of contact for our clients, referrers, and an important part of our team. For many of our clients, making that first phone call or walking through our front door is incredibly difficult. We're looking for someone who can make those moments feel safe, calm and welcoming.

Our clinic in Isaacs ACT is currently seeking an experienced Administration Assistant / Receptionist to join our psychology practice. This is a permanent role ideal for someone with experience working in medical or allied health administration. We are looking for someone to join our team onsite, 5 days per week.

About us:

We have been providing psychological services to individuals and couples in the Canberra area for the last 5 years and have grown to a team of 8 part‑time clinicians.

At Evo Psychology we value openness, authenticity, and strive to build a progressive practice. We pride ourselves on the safe space we have created for clients, and celebrate the diversity of our clients, our team, and community.

Would you be a great fit for this role, our team and our clinic?

As first point of contact, we’re looking for someone who is warm, open‑minded, and empathetic. Someone who brings kindness and professionalism to every interaction with clients, fellow team members, and referrers. The right person for this role will be self‑motivated and proactive, able to take initiative and stay on top of tasks, identify problems, suggest improvements and take ownership of systems .They’ll value clear communication, be open to feedback and learning,

and feel comfortable in a mental health setting where compassion and confidentiality are key.

At our clinic, we work closely as a team and genuinely care about each other and our clients. We're an authentic, down‑to‑earth team, enjoy humour, celebrate people's differences, and don't expect anyone to fit a corporate mould. We’re excited to welcome someone who shares these values and wants to contribute positively to our supportive and purpose‑driven workplace.

- Demonstrated commitment to working respectfully with neurodivergent people and members of the LGBTQIA+ community
- At least 2 years of admin/reception experience in psychology private practice, medical or allied health settings

- Able to communicate with sensitivity and professionalism about general mental health topics, including brief background or presenting issues shared by clients or team members, as part of administrative duties (without delving into clinical/therapy content)
- High level of professionalism and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to relate to clients, our team, and external health professionals - face to face, on the phone and in writing
- Ability to multitask and take ownership of projects and tasks

Highly desirable:

- Interest in the mental health field
- Mental health first aid training and/or working with diverse populations training
- Experience using practice management software, such as PowerDiary, Halaxy or Splose, as well as Google Workspace/Gmail/Google Drive
- Knowledge of the Medicare Better Access scheme (Mental Health Care Plans and Eating Disorder Plans) and/or the NDIS
