Makin Mattresses is seeking a skilled and dedicated Mattress Builder to join our manufacturing team in Nundah, QLD. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our production process, ensuring the quality and precision of our mattress products. As a Mattress Builder, you will be responsible for operating industrial sewing equipment to construct and assemble mattress components with accuracy and efficiency. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for quality craftsmanship and meeting production deadlines.

Key responsibilities

Operate industrial Tape Edge machines to stitch mattress covers, panels and other fabric components according to specifications and quality standards

Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions to ensure accurate assembly of mattress components

Monitor stitching quality and tension settings to maintain consistent output and identify any defects or irregularities

Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of Tape edge machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity

Inspect finished products for quality assurance, ensuring all seams are secure and meet company standards

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain workflow efficiency and meet production targets

Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment

Report any equipment malfunctions or quality concerns to management promptly

What we’re looking for

Proven experience operating industrial Tape edge/sewing machines in a manufacturing environment, preferably in textiles, upholstery or mattress production

Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce consistently high-quality work

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and work specifications

Knowledge of fabric types,



thread selection and appropriate stitch techniques for different materials

Ability to work at a steady pace whilst maintaining accuracy and quality standards

Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of Tape edge/sewing machine maintenance and troubleshooting

Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills

Communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team workplace

Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety protocols

Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic
