About the role
We are seeking an Acting Manager to join our team in Singleton NSW 2330 on a casual basis. In this pivotal role, you will step into a leadership position with responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our housing and homelessness services. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our organisation delivers high-quality support to vulnerable populations whilst maintaining operational excellence and staff wellbeing. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable management experience in the community services sector and demonstrate your leadership capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Supervising and supporting frontline staff to ensure delivery of quality housing and homelessness services
- Managing daily operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and service delivery coordination
- Maintaining and monitoring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and organisational procedures
- Fostering a positive team environment that promotes collaboration, career development and staff wellbeing
- Communicating effectively with senior management, external partners and stakeholders regarding operational matters and service updates
- Identifying and addressing operational challenges and implementing practical solutions
- Ensuring accurate record-keeping, reporting and documentation in accordance with organisational standards
- Supporting the planning and delivery of programs and services that meet the needs of service users
- Participating in team meetings, training and continuous improvement initiatives
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrated experience in housing and homelessness services, community services, or related social support sectors
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience, or the demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate a team effectively
- Strong understanding of the challenges facing homeless and housing-insecure populations, with empathy and commitment to person-centred support
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and vulnerable individuals
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and compliance requirements in housing and homelessness services
- Ability to work independently, make sound judgements and manage competing priorities in a quick-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills and proficiency with record-keeping and reporting systems
- Flexibility and resilience in responding to the complex needs of individuals experiencing housing insecurity
- Current Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain one (depending on role requirements)
- A valid driver's licence is desirable
