MSF Sugar is a leading Australian sugar producer and renewable energy. Based in Far North Queensland and part of the global Mitr Phol Group, we operate three sugar mills, extensive farming assets, and a renewable power station producing green energy from bagasse.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Shift Fitter to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis at the Mulgrave Central Mill, located approximately 20 minutes from Cairns.

This role is a trade technical position within the processing operations on shift during the Crushing Season, following a 24-hour continuous crushing roster.

During the Maintenance Season, you will be undertaking preventative maintenance on factory plant following an RDO/ADO roster on day work.

This position will support ongoing milling and sugar recovery operations to meet Mill business plan targets, and is expected to lead improvement in the systems of work within the responsibility area to improve productivity and safety behaviour. You'll play a key part in supporting mechanical issues during factory operations, monitoring the plant equipment, responding to issues as required, and reporting any ongoing issues. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your trade skills in a well-established and supportive team workplace within the sugar industry.

Key Responsibilities

Efficiently and safely complete checks, inspections and adjustments on operating plant throughout the factory while on shift.

Install factory equipment, fault-finding, adjustments, repairs,



and maintenance (scheduled and unscheduled) on factory equipment as required to keep the plant operating safely and efficiently.

Adhere to all of MSF Sugar WH&S; policies and procedures.

Monitor, review, and adjust factory equipment on an ongoing basis to achieve optimum equipment performance through each shift.

Complete a detailed Shift Log as required for transfer of changes, tuning, repairs, adjustments, improvements or issues between shifts.

Undertake training and skills development as required for the role.

Work under supervision and may supervise other employees.

What We’re Looking For

Be fully trade qualified as a Fitter

Have strong communication and interpersonal skills

Be self-motivated with the ability to work well in a team

Basic report writing

Steam Turbine High Risk Ticket (TO) (advantageous)

Have sugar milling experience and an understanding of milling operations (advantageous)

Hold additional tickets/licences such as Loader, Forklift, Dogger (advantageous)
