Harlequin Haulage | Australia-Wide Operations

Harlequin Haulage is looking for an experienced MC Driver to join our team for long-distance, interstate work across Australia.

This is a genuine on-the-road role. Drivers can be away from home for 2-3 months at a time, potentially longer depending on where the work takes them. It is not a Monday-to-Friday position where you'll be home every weekend.

The role is casual because hours and workloads vary from week to week, however, the successful driver should expect to spend the majority of their time away and working on the road.

About the role

You’ll be operating heavy vehicle combinations across Australia, including extendables and road trains, transporting a variety of loads in different conditions and locations.

This is more than just driving. You’ll be responsible for looking after the equipment, completing paperwork properly, managing fatigue, securing loads and communicating with our operations team.

You’ll need to be comfortable working independently and making sensible decisions on the road.

What you’ll be doing

- Operating MC combinations safely across local, regional, interstate and remote routes.
- Driving extendables, road trains and other heavy vehicle combinations as required.
- Completing vehicle and trailer pre-start inspections.
- Checking equipment and reporting faults or maintenance issues.
- Ensuring loads are correctly positioned and restrained.
- Completing trip, mass, load and fatigue documentation accurately.
- Managing work and rest hours in line with fatigue requirements, including BFM where applicable.
- Following Chain of Responsibility requirements relating to fatigue, mass,



load restraint and speed.
- Communicating with operations regarding loads, delays, hazards and vehicle issues.
- Assisting with loading and unloading where required.
- Safety and compliance are a big part of the role, and we expect drivers to take both seriously.

What we’re looking for

You’ll need:

- A current MC licence.
- Demonstrated heavy vehicle driving experience, preferably involving long-haul, interstate, oversize and/or road train work.
- A current commercial‑driver medical and the ability to meet fitness‑to‑drive requirements or the willingness to obtain one.
- Confidence working independently.
- Good communication and record‑keeping skills.
- A strong focus on safety and looking after equipment.
- Willingness to complete required CoR, NHVAS and fatigue‑management training.
- Most importantly, you need to be genuinely comfortable being away from home for extended periods.

Hours vary depending on freight movements and operational requirements, but this is not an occasional casual driving job. The successful applicant is likely to spend a significant amount of time working and travelling with the truck.
