Job Description

The role: As a Software Developer and Database Administrator for City Beach, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, maintaining and supporting applications and database platforms and related data services to ensure data integrity, security, backup, reliability and performance.
The role also supports internal reporting and analytics solutions by ensuring data structures, SQL queries, integrations and documentation are accurate, secure and maintainable. This is a full-time position working an average of 38 hours per week based in Brisbane, Queensland. Key Responsibilities:
Design, configure, maintain and support database management systems, database architecture, schemas, tables, data structures, data dictionaries and naming conventions to ensure data accuracy and completeness. Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain internal software applications and tools. Implement, administer and monitor database security, access controls, data integrity controls, backup processes, recovery procedures and disaster recovery planning.
Perform operational and preventative maintenance for database environments, including scheduled backups, recovery testing, patching, capacity checks and routine health monitoring. Write, maintain and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, views, data extracts,
transformations and data models to support reporting, analytics, integrations and operational decision-making. Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve database issues, application data issues, performance concerns, failed jobs, data quality exceptions and other incidents affecting business systems whilst encompassing workstations and communication infrastructure.
Test database systems and upgrades by debugging, tracking, reproducing, logging and resolving issues in accordance with approved testing scripts, procedures and quality processes. Prepare and maintain database documentation, including data models, data dictionaries, standards, operational procedures, security guidelines, recovery instructions and system logs. Monitor database, application and infrastructure performance to ensure system components operate reliably together, and recommend enhancements to improve availability, scalability, security and performance.
Develop, maintain and enhance internal reporting solutions and dashboards, including Power BI reports and business performance dashboards, using accurate and governed data sources. Collaborate with stakeholders, security vendors, software suppliers and service providers to analyse user, system, database and reporting requirements and deliver practical, secure and maintainable technical solutions. About
You: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or minimum 5 years experience in a similar role Strong technical knowledge of database administration, database design, data modelling, relational database concepts and data analysis techniques.
Sound understanding of programming languages such as C#, C++, Python. Strong technical knowledge of data models, database design, development, and data analysis techniques Proven experience maintaining database environments, including backup and recovery, data integrity controls, performance monitoring, troubleshooting and disaster recovery practices.
Proficient in writing, maintaining and optimising SQL queries, stored procedures, views, extracts and data transformations. Sound understanding of database security principles, access controls, auditability, operational risk and change control processes. Experience developing reports, dashboards and data visualisations, including Power BI or similar tools, using accurate and governed data sources.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and present complex data with accuracy and attention to detail.
