The Product Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical application support, product selection guidance, and engineering input to ensure products are correctly specified, applied, and supported for customer requirements. The role acts as a key technical link between customers, sales, engineering, production, and service teams, helping translate customer needs into practical, reliable, and commercially viable product solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Review customer enquiries, specifications, drawings, and application requirements to determine suitable product solutions.
- Provide technical support to sales, customers, and internal teams during enquiry, quotation, order, production, and after-sales stages.
- Prepare product selections, technical recommendations, calculations, compliance responses, and application notes as required.
- Assist with the preparation of quotations, proposals, technical submissions, and tender documentation.
- Work with engineering and drafting teams to support concept layouts, special product requirements, design clarifications, and drawing reviews.
- Investigate technical issues, coordinate root cause analysis, and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
- Support product improvement initiatives by collecting field feedback, identifying recurring application issues, and communicating customer needs to engineering and product management.
- Maintain accurate technical records, product data, selection guides, and application knowledge resources.
- Provide product and application training to internal staff, customers, and partners where required.
- Ensure all recommendations and technical outputs comply with relevant standards, company procedures, safety requirements, and quality expectations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree, diploma, or trade-qualified background in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in product application engineering, technical sales support, design engineering, field service, or industrial equipment support.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical standards, and customer requirements.
- Sound understanding of mechanical equipment, materials, manufacturing processes, and practical engineering constraints.
- Experience with CAD systems, SolidWorks, PDM, product selection tools, ERP systems, or technical documentation systems is desirable.
- Experience in mining, materials handling, drives, bulk handling, crushing, screening, conveying, or heavy industrial equipment is highly regarded.
