What You'll Do
You will own the client relationship for a portfolio of B and C-tier international clients — acting as their trusted advisor as they operate and grow in Australia. You provide tax guidance, business and regulatory advice, and help clients navigate everything from entity structuring to payroll obligations to BAS compliance. For your clients, you are ABN Australia.
This is a client-facing advisory role, not an administrative or production role. You manage relationships, deliver advice, handle onboarding, and identify opportunities to add value.
Act as the primary relationship owner and advisor for B and C-tier clients
Provide guidance on Australian tax obligations, regulatory requirements, and business operations, helping international clients understand how things work here
Advise clients launching in Australia on entity setup, registration obligations, employment framework, and ongoing compliance requirements
Lead client onboarding from engagement letter through to BAU: planning conversations, system setup, introductions to the technical team
Identify opportunities to deepen relationships and grow fees through additional services
Handle client queries and escalations directly — only escalating to the SCM for genuinely complex commercial or advisory matters
2.2 COMMERCIAL CONTRIBUTION
Own pricing conversations for B/C-tier engagements within the firm's value-based pricing framework
Deliver proactive communication throughout the compliance cycle: BAS summaries, deadline reminders, year-end planning
Track client engagement health: responsiveness, satisfaction, fee realisation, at-risk indicators
Support the SCM on business development activity: prospect meetings, proposals, referral follow-up
2.3 COLLABORATION ACROSS THE TEAM
Attend weekly pod sync meetings with the Senior Tax Manager and production team
Translate client priorities into clear briefs for the technical delivery stream
Coordinate with the offshore Client Manager who handles D/E-tier client communication
Support the SCM on A-tier client matters as needed this is your development exposure to more complex advisory work
Requirements
ABOUT YOU
You're a confident, client-facing advisor who international businesses trust to help them navigate Australia.
You combine accounting literacy with genuine commercial instinct — you understand what clients need, you explain it in plain language, and you make sure it happens.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting, Business, or a related field
- CPA / CA qualification preferred but not essential — commercial and advisory capability matters more than technical credentials
- 3–7 years' experience in accounting, professional services, or a client-facing advisory role
- Strong written and verbal communication — you write clear, professional emails and are confident advising senior finance professionals
- Experience advising or supporting international businesses operating in Australia is highly valued
- Familiarity with Australian tax and regulatory obligations at a conversational level — you guide clients, you don't prepare the returns
- Familiarity with Xero, practice management software, or CRM systems is a plus
What We’re Really Looking For
- Trusted advisor. Clients rely on you. You understand their business, anticipate their questions, and give them confidence that their Australian operations are in good hands.
- Proactive, not reactive. You don't wait for clients to call with problems. You're ahead of them — flagging upcoming obligations, suggesting next steps, and keeping them informed before they have to ask.
- Commercially aware. You understand that your portfolio drives retention and revenue. A well-advised, well-serviced client stays and grows. You spot opportunities to add value naturally.
- Clear communicator. You translate tax and regulatory complexity into language international clients can act on. You bridge the gap between the technical team and the client.
- Relentlessly organised. You track every open item, every deadline, every client commitment. Nothing gets lost. Nothing gets forgotten.
- Adaptable. You're comfortable working across different client types, industries, and levels of complexity. No two days look the same and you like it that way.
- Growth oriented. You want to develop into a Senior Client Manager. This role gives you direct exposure to higher-complexity advisory, pricing, and portfolio leadership under an experienced SCM — it's designed as that pathway.
