About the Role:
Murrells Freight Service is seeking an experienced Driver Trainer or Experienced Heavy Vehicle Driver looking for a change to support driver capability, safety, and compliance across our operations.
Reporting directly to the Compliance Manager, this role plays a key part in maintaining high standards and supporting our drivers through training, mentoring, and assessment.
In this hands‑on safety‑focused role you’ll be responsible for delivering competency‑based training and assessments, mentoring drivers and supporting compliance requirements.
You’ll work closely with operations, compliance and drivers to promote a strong safety culture and consistent standards.
This is a full‑time role with exposure across different areas of transport operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and train recent and existing drivers
- Conduct driver competency and VOC assessments
- Deliver training and coaching programs
- Mentor staff during probation and ongoing development
- Maintain training records and compliance documentation
- Support CoR, fatigue, and safety compliance
- Assist with incident investigations as required
- Work closely with the Compliance Manager and operations team
- Onboarding of New Starters
- Conduct Audits of drivers and equipment
About You
- Current MC Heavy Vehicle Licence with proven driving experience
- Knowledge of workplace health & safety requirements
- Previous driver training or assessing experience (highly regarded)
- Strong knowledge of HVNL, Chain of Responsibility, and fatigue management
- Safety-driven with a calm, professional approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organised, reliable, and comfortable with compliance requirements
- Ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to the day‑to‑day changes of transport operations
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or working towards
- NHVR Portal knowledge including permit applications
- LF High Risk Licence
