Torchmaster Australia is a family-owned national wholesaler supplying welding consumables and industrial products to customers across Australia. With warehouses in Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne, we have built a strong reputation for quality products, reliable service and technical expertise.

As our business continues to grow and invest in technology, we are looking for an experienced Operational Accountant to join our team. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with the Group CFO and National Sales Manager to provide timely financial insights that support operational decision-making.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Group CFO, you will support the day-to-day financial management and operational reporting of Torchmaster Australia.

You will work closely with the National Sales Manager and provide review and support to an offshore Accounts Clerk responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable and bank reconciliations.

This role would suit an Assistant Accountant who wants broader exposure to month-end reporting, inventory, sales analysis and business operations within a national wholesale business.

What You Will Be Doing

- Assist with month-end reporting
- Prepare established weekly and monthly sales, margin, inventory and operational reports
- Complete journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Review accounts receivable, accounts payable and bank reconciliations completed by the offshore Accounts Clerk
- Monitor debtor and creditor ageing and follow up outstanding items
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting




- Undertake initial variance analysis and investigate unusual movements
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data within Odoo
- Assist with inventory reporting, stock adjustments and slow-moving stock analysis
- Support the Group CFO with reporting improvements, dashboards and process automation
- Respond to routine financial queries from the National Sales Manager and operational team
- Assist with BAS, audit, year-end and other compliance requirements

What We Are Looking For

- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accountant or similar finance role
- Experience with month-end accounting and balance sheet reconciliations
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
- ERP system experience, with Odoo experience highly regarded
- Experience in wholesale, distribution, manufacturing or an inventory-based business would be advantageous
- Good analytical skills and the ability to identify unusual or incorrect results
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Clear communication skills and a practical, collaborative approach
- Willingness to learn and develop broader commercial accounting skills
