Operations Manager - faith based movement
Use your operational leadership expertise and servant-hearted approach to enable mission, ensuring people, processes and purpose connect
- Requires substantial experience leading operations, people and business functions
- Energetic collaborative and values-driven leader
- Full-time Brisbane based with flexibility
- $100K + super (not packaged)
This is a role for someone who understands that good operations rarely seek the spotlight, but that everything falls apart without them. This values‑led, faith‑based movement supports a diverse network of autonomous churches and ministries across Queensland. At the centre sits a small, committed operations and governance team whose purpose is simple and demanding at the same time: to hold the structures steady so mission can flourish.
Operating within a highly relational, collaborative model, churches are autonomous, ministries diverse, and governance shared. Property, people, compliance and care are deeply connected to trust. Change is underway - intentionally, thoughtfully and with respect for deeply held convictions. The movement is strengthening its systems and ways of working for the future, without losing the heart that defines it.
A servant‑hearted leadership role with real complexity
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager plays a pivotal senior leadership role across the daily functioning of the organisation. This includes responsibility for administration, HR coordination, governance support, compliance, WHS, property oversight, communications and operational planning. The team you lead is capable, committed and diverse, and the work is broad, spanning governance papers and HR matters through to systems improvement,
movement-wide coordination and property-related matters.
Alongside a mature Christian faith, we are seeking a seasoned operational leader with experience across people, governance, systems and organisational effectiveness.
This is not a narrow role, and it is not a purely technical one. It requires judgement, emotional intelligence and the ability to work well in ambiguity. Policies matter, but relationships matter more. Structure is important, but so is grace. This is a role for someone who can balance operational rigour with compassion, understanding that people are rarely perfect, circumstances are not always straightforward, and the best outcomes are often achieved through patience, wisdom and thoughtful leadership rather than control.
Success will come through your experience leading operations, administration or business functions within complex environments where competing priorities, diverse stakeholders and imperfect information are part of daily life. You may not have deep expertise across every area of responsibility, but you will bring sound judgement, curiosity, adaptability and a proven ability to lead capable people, improve systems and build trusted relationships.
Equally important is your ability to engage respectfully and effectively with pastors, church leaders, boards and colleagues.
You will be comfortable working within a collaborative workplace where influence is earned through credibility, humility and service, bringing order where processes are still forming and calm where complexity is unavoidable.
Just as important is mindset
This organisation is built on relationships, service and mission. The work is often complex, sometimes ambiguous and occasionally messy. It involves supporting churches, pastors, boards and ministries through situations that require wisdom, patience, diplomacy and grace. Success rarely comes through authority or process alone, but through trust, collaboration and sound judgement.
Comfortable working behind the scenes so that others can flourish, you lead with humility, integrity and a genuine desire to serve. You listen well, remain gracious under pressure and navigate differing perspectives with emotional intelligence, maturity and sound judgement.
This role will appeal to someone for whom purpose outweighs profile. Rather than being motivated by corporate status, polished titles or high-end reward structures, you are energised by the opportunity to use your leadership and experience in service of something enduring, supporting churches and leaders across Queensland and helping strengthen a movement making a lasting impact for generations to come.
