Our client, a well-established retail business based in Alexandria, is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on a 6-month contract. While the role is initially fixed-term, there is a strong likelihood it will move into a permanent position.

The role is full time based in their office – close to Green Square station.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end processing of weekly payroll for a workforce of approximately 500+ employees
- Support the transition project moving payroll from weekly to fortnightly cycle over the coming months
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of wages, deductions, and entitlements
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with relevant awards, legislation, and internal policies
- Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and management
- Assist with reconciliations, reporting, and end-of-cycle processes
- Liaise with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operations
About You
- Proven experience in a high-volume payroll role, ideally within retail or a similar fast-paced environment
- Experience managing weekly payroll cycles; exposure to payroll system transitions or process changes highly regarded
- Strong understanding of relevant payroll legislation, awards, and compliance requirements
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Immediately available or available at short notice preferred
- Preferred experience with Employment Hero payroll
