We are partnering with a well-established organisation seeking a hands-on Accountant to join their Finance team.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is well suited to a technically strong accounting professional with solid payroll experience who enjoys working in a small, rapid-paced finance team. You will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end close processes, managing payroll obligations, and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting and taxation requirements.
Following an initial onboarding and training period, the successful candidate will be expected to work independently, manage competing priorities, and confidently contribute across both accounting and payroll functions.

Key Responsibilities
- Support and/or lead month-end close activities including journals, accruals, prepayments and adjustments
- Perform bank, payroll and balance sheet reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and support monthly financial reporting
- Process weekly payroll accurately and in line with statutory requirements
- Prepare payroll journals and support month-end payroll reporting
- Manage statutory payroll obligations including Superannuation, PAYG withholding, Payroll Tax and WorkCover
- Support BAS and IAS preparation and lodgement
- Assist with end-of-financial-year payroll processes and reporting requirements
- Respond to payroll and finance queries from employees and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies and legislative requirements
- Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as required
- Assist with audit preparation and compliance reporting
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance function
- Provide general accounting and administrative support as required

About You
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- CPA or CA qualified (or currently studying) highly regarded
- 2-5 years' experience in a hands-on accounting role
- Strong experience with month-end close processes, reconciliations and general ledger accounting
- Proven payroll processing experience and understanding of statutory payroll obligations
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll and taxation requirements
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a small team environment
- Ability to work independently after an initial training period
- Fast learner who can quickly adapt to systems and processes
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (SAP advantageous)
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
