About the role

The Boarding House Coordinator plays a key role in the lives of our boarding students by supporting the Head of Boarding in the daily running of the Boarding House. This is an important role with a solid focus on student pastoral support, safety, welfare, behaviour, and personal development, coupled with the day-to-day management of the boarding students. This role requires a proactive physical presence in the Boarding House and dining room. The role is integral to the growth and development of the boarders who live in Booth House at Whitsunday Anglican School.

The School is currently seeking a term-time caring, mature and nurturing Boarding House Coordinator. A varied roster from Sunday night when the Boarders return back to School to Thursday night. Flexible hours can be negotiated and meals are provided. This role is available as either a residential or non-residential position and is full-time during term time only. Residential roles do not require the applicant to move out over the non-term time breaks if they so desire. Hours are mainly after School, evenings and some rostered weekend days/evenings. An ability to have genuine conversations with our boarding students, engage meaningfully, monitor wellbeing,



and build positive relationships while being a mature guiding pastoral presence in the lives of our boarders from Year 6 to Year 12 is required. This role is integral to the growth, wellbeing and development of our Boarding students, the heart and soul of our School.

Key Duties

- Ensure active and safe supervision of boarders while on duty by prioritising their safety and well-being at all times
- Build positive relationships and connections with students and their families
- Mentor and guide Boarding students
- Supervise and care for the Boarders with compassion, consistency and fairness while maintaining Boarding House standards
- Work as part of a Boarding Team which is characterised by the highest principles relating to teamwork, integrity, professionalism, student protection, welfare and safety
- Supervise boarder activities within and outside the boarding school when required
- Attend, help coordinate, and actively participate in key Boarding events
- Be proactive in observing and reporting to the Head of Boarding and Deputy Head of Boarding key areas relating to: student safety and welfare, continuous improvement ideas, any pastoral care concerns or opportunities for student recognition and growth
- Monitor health concerns and be willing to undertake a Student Protection Officer course
- Attendance and active participation at Boarding meetings





Candidate Profile

- Enjoys working with and supervising students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated use of initiative and flexibility
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently when required
- An excellent role model for our boarding community: ethical, reliable, punctual, proactive, respectful well groomed, and with a positive can-do attitude.
- Emotionally intelligent
- A professional, friendly, and empathetic demeanour
- An open C Class Licence with no restrictions essential
- A current Working with Children Blue Card or the ability to obtain one is essential
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate or the ability to obtain
- Previous experience working with students in a supervisory capacity will be highly regarded
- Relevant qualifications that support key responsibility areas will be highly regarded
