This is an exciting opportunity to join GEC on the Santos Cooper Midstream Simplification (CMS) project — one of Australia's most significant energy infrastructure programs currently under delivery. We are looking for aLeading Hand to support our mechanical crew by coordinating and supervising daily construction and maintenance activities, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of work across our mechanical projects.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity as a Mechanical Leading Hand based in the Cooper Basin on the Santos Project, working a 3:2 FIFO roster. As Leading Hand, you will play a key role supporting the Project Supervisor in leading and coordinating day to day field activities for Mechanical construction, tie-ins and maintenance, to meet safety, quality, environmental, and schedule targets. You will be hands‑on in mentoring and developing team members, promoting a strong safety culture and supporting best practices across the team. Alongside your field responsibilities, you will help maintain accurate project records, update schedules,
and support cost reporting and document control processes. This includes a strong focus on identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and reliability of our systems, contributing to daily reporting, and maintaining a strong working knowledge of construction methodologies, resource needs, and project risks.

Mandatory Requirements
All of the following must be held at time of application.
To be successful in this role, the following skills and experience are desirable:
- Trade Qualification (Mechanical / Civil) or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in Oil & Gas pipeline or facility projects.
- Sound understanding of plant & equipment capabilities.
- Intermediate MS Office skills; exposure to scheduling or project controls software is a plus.
- Ability to interpret drawings and apply the right methods, materials and standards.
- Proven leadership—sets high safety standards, communicates clearly and motivates teams.
- Strong time‑management and organisational skills; able to balance competing priorities.
