Ocius Technology is an Australian company dedicated to developing and deploying cutting edge Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs). Our vessel's harness Wind, Solar and Wave power to remain at sea collecting vital data for Defence and Civilian applications.

We are under contracts with RAN, RNZN and USA and are responding in an agile way to an ambitious program of building and deploying multiple USVs for operations around Australia and beyond.

About the Role

The Data Engineer will ingest, store and utilise data to ensure that our fleet of Bluebottles remain on mission. The role will be crucial in cataloguing and storing our telemetry and sensor data to aid maintenance, engineering and operations to ensure our fleet is operating at its peak.

A typical day could include:

Using Python to build data pipelines for ingestion into AWS cloud

Partnering with stakeholders to understand their data and reporting requirements

Ingesting and storing data to enable accurate reporting capability

Building recent and improving existing dashboards and reporting in Grafana

Experience developing and maintaining data pipelines in Python for ingesting, transforming, and storing large volumes of operational or telemetry data in a cloud environment.

Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries, optimising performance, and supporting reporting and analytics requirements.

Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database platforms, including database design, administration,



and performance optimisation.

Experience implementing practical metadata, labelling, cataloguing and dataset management practices so operational, trial and engineering data can be found, understood and reused.

Ability to work with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing and analysts to capture source data context, annotations, trial conditions, system configuration and other information required to make raw data helpful.

Experience developing dashboards, reports, and visualisations using Grafana or similar business intelligence and monitoring platforms.
