People Care Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team in Coffs Harbour, NSW. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide essential support and assistance to people with various disabilities, helping them to achieve their personal goals, maintain their independence, and participate actively in their communities. This role is fundamental to our mission of delivering person-centred care and support services that enhance the quality of life for those we serve.

Key responsibilities

Provide personal care and support to individuals with disabilities in accordance with their individual support plans and preferences

Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, medication reminders, meal preparation and household tasks

Support individuals to participate in community activities, social events and recreational pursuits that promote their wellbeing and social inclusion

Encourage independence and promote the development of skills that enable individuals to achieve their personal goals

Maintain accurate and detailed records of support provided and any observations regarding the individual's health and wellbeing

Communicate effectively with individuals, their families, carers and other members of the support team to ensure continuity of care

Respond sensitively to the emotional and psychological needs of individuals in your care

Maintain a safe and clean environment and follow all health and safety protocols

Respect the dignity, privacy and rights of all individuals you support

What we're looking for

A valid Certificate III in Disability Support or equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain this qualification

Current First Aid and CPR certification

A valid Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance

Demonstrated empathy, patience and compassion towards individuals with disabilities





Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing client needs

Physical capability to assist with personal care and mobility support where required

A commitment to person-centred care and respecting individual rights and choices

Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work

Knowledge of disability support frameworks and relevant legislation such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is desirable
