Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer - Power Generation to lead the mechanical scope on a major gas-fired power generation project in Queensland. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for the duration of the project design phase, with potential for extension or transition to a permanent role.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

Provide technical leadership on the mechanical scope including fuel gas, hydrogen, water, compressed air, nitrogen and fire water systems from concept through to IFC.

Execute mechanical engineering tasks including piping design, pipe stress and flexibility analysis, pipe support design, pressure equipment sizing,



tank and skid selection, and mechanical interface coordination.

Manage Turnkey Package interfaces on the mechanical side - Fire & Gas civils and piping, foundations, water systems, and vendor package boundaries with the unit supplier and specialist D&C; providers.

Prepare, review and approve mechanical engineering calculations, datasheets, specifications and drawings, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and project requirements.

Manage vendor engineering data flow for BOP mechanical equipment into the facility design, including technical evaluation and procurement support

Attend and contribute to HAZOP, LOPA/SIL, Constructability and Safety in Design workshops on the mechanical scope.

Mentor mechanical engineers and collaborate across civil, structural, EIC and process disciplines to deliver an integrated facility design.

Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships across the head contractor, unit supplier, gas pipeline provider and principal.

Monitor project budgets, schedules and quality across the mechanical scope, and support construction and commissioning phases including gas-introduction readiness.

Skills and Experience





Minimum 7 years' experience in mechanical engineering with significant background in power generation, oil & gas, LNG or gas processing projects.

RPEQ or eligibility for RPEQ registration in Queensland.

Strong piping design and pipe stress analysis capability for pressurised gas, hydrogen, water and process systems.

Practical experience with fuel gas systems - piping, isolation valves, ESD skids, filtration and pressure reduction, vent systems and gas pipeline interfaces.

Familiarity with AS/NZS 3788, AS 4041, AS 2419, NFPA and Queensland Petroleum & Gas regulations.

Demonstrated experience in package management and vendor interface coordination in EPC or EPCM delivery.

Experience with HAZOP, LOPA, SIL and Safety in Design workshops on gas or process plant.

Ability to work across multiple disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and process.
