Can Assist is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Manager in the day-to-day financial operations of our not-for-profit organisation. This role offers the chance to gain broad exposure across finance functions while contributing to an organisation that makes a meaningful difference in the community.

Key responsibilities

- Reconciling bank statements, investment accounts, and resolving discrepancies
- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner
- Preparing and maintaining accurate accounting records, including general ledger entries and reconciliations
- Assisting with payroll administration and processing
- Assisting with month-end close processes
- Supporting the completion of tax compliance and lodgment requirements
- Providing support to the Finance Manager during audit processes
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures

What we're looking for

- A relevant accounting qualification or currently studying Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.




- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines during busy periods.
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Xero, MYOB or similar accounting software.
