We are growing our kitchen brigade and are on the lookout for a passionate and skilled Chef who loves creativity, quality and working with fresh seasonal ingredients. Chef – Arbour Restaurant & Bar, South Brisbane Key Responsibilities
- Estimate ingredient usage, assist with portion control and collaborate on inventory planning to minimise waste and maintain cost efficiency.
- Assist in introducing and testing seasonal specials and menu improvements based on customer feedback and market trends.
- Contribute to designing and refining menu items that balance contemporary trends with our signature style ensuring dish variety, taste quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Inspect all food throughout preparation and plating to ensure alignment with Arbour’s quality expectations and presentation style.
- Maintain a deep focus on food safety, hygiene and regulatory compliance actively implementing kitchen cleanliness and safe-work procedures.
- Support onboarding and skill development of junior kitchen staff through hands-on training and guidance in cooking methods, food handling and equipment operation.
- Help maintain correct storage practices, including freezing or preserving foods when required to ensure freshness and reduce spoilage.
- Collaborate with the bar and floor teams to deliver a cohesive dining experience that complements our curated beverage offerings.
- Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes across different sections of the kitchen to ensure consistency and high standards in every plate served.
- Contribute to shift planning, kitchen organisation and smooth workflow during busy service periods.
- Work closely with the Head Chef and venue managers to address ingredient availability, special dietary needs and service timing.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a similar commercial kitchen role
- Qualification: AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in a relevant field
