Greyhound Rescue is seeking an experienced and passionate Team Leader to join our Rescue Centre leadership team.

Reporting directly to the Shelter Manager, this full-time leadership position plays a key role in the day-to-day operation of our rescue centre. You will lead and support our Shift Leaders, oversee kennel operations, contribute to the rehabilitation and rehoming of greyhounds, and help ensure every dog receives exceptional care.

This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys mentoring others, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and is passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of rescue greyhounds.

Every day is different, and every decision you make contributes to helping more greyhounds find secure, loving homes.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

- Leading, mentoring and supporting our team of Shift Leaders.
- Overseeing the daily operation of the rescue centre, ensuring high standards of animal care and welfare.
- Monitoring the health, behaviour and wellbeing of dogs, including coordinating veterinary care where required.
- Conducting behavioural assessments and supporting rehabilitation programs.
- Maintaining accurate records within Animal Shelter Manager (ASM).
- Supporting volunteers by providing guidance, supervision and feedback.
- Ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and best practice animal welfare standards.
- Managing medication inventories and overseeing stock levels for food, enrichment, PPE and cleaning supplies.
- Working alongside the Shelter Manager to support matching greyhounds to rehoming applications and behavioural programs.
- Stepping into the Shelter Manager role during periods of leave to ensure continuity of leadership and operations.

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced leader who enjoys developing people just as much as working with dogs. You lead by example, communicate clearly, remain calm under pressure and are committed to achieving the highest standards of animal welfare.

You will ideally bring:

- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in an animal care environment.
- Experience working in kennels, shelters or a similar animal care setting.
- Experience with canine behaviour, rehabilitation or assessments.
- A positive reinforcement, fear‑free approach to dog handling and training.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- Confidence using computer systems and maintaining accurate records.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to foster a positive team culture.
- A commitment to Greyhound Rescue’s mission and values.
- Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training or equivalent experience.
- Experience in greyhound rehoming or rescue.

Greyhound Rescue is an ethical rescue organisation dedicated to giving every greyhound the opportunity to live a safe and fulfilling life.

You’ll be joining a passionate, supportive team where collaboration, continuous improvement and animal welfare are at the heart of everything we do.

This role offers the opportunity to:

- Make a meaningful impact on the lives of rescue greyhounds.
- Lead and develop a dedicated team.
- Work alongside experienced professionals in behaviour, rehabilitation and rehoming.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth and success of one of Australia’s leading greyhound rescue organisations.
