About the role

Our Recycling Centres, Containers for Change Refund Point and Reuse Shop do some great work reusing, reprocessing and recycling materials to keep them out of landfill.

The Recycling Centre Operator role is based at the City Recycling Centres (Bullsbrook and Malaga) which receives and manages waste and recyclable materials. We have two permanent full-time positions available.

The positions may undertake other priority tasks from time to time including though not limited to, working in the gate house, manual handling, Containers for Change facility, customer service, site clean-up and litter control.

Responsibilities will also include completing all work in a safe and efficient manner having regard to own safety, the public’s safety and that of other workers. Furthermore, ensuring you and your team deliver outstanding customer service and be community minded with a willingness to improve the quality of life for our community.

Safely operate a variety of plant and equipment and care for your plant and equipment daily and report any faults or issues.

This position is required to work Thursday to Sunday in line with roster requirements and, may be required to work additional weekdays as necessary.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

- Be part of a team that will facilitate the efficient and effective reuse and recycling of commodities received by the site, maximising the recovery rate
- Perform manual tasks and operate recycling plant, machinery and vehicles efficiently
- Gate house operation, including using relevant programs for data entry
- Assist in the sale of goods and receive fees utilising EFTPOS terminal
- Operating a counting machine in the Containers for Change Refund Point
- Manual sorting of containers
- Keep work areas clean and tidy ensuring a safe working environment, including site clean-up and litter control
- Use a two-way radio

About you

- A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required




- Current HR Driver’s Licence
- First Aid Certificate
- Basic Worksite Traffic Management Certificate
- Community minded with a willingness to improve the quality of life for our community.

The salary for this position will be from $69,927.74 to $72,692.77 pro rata plus weekend penalties, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
