Join the New South Wales Bar Association as an Accountant and play a key role in supporting the organisation's financial operations, reporting and compliance activities.
About us
We are the professional body for practising barristers in NSW, supporting the profession through regulation, member services, education, policy advocacy and access to justice initiatives.
Our finance team is small but friendly and collaborative.
About the role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this full-time position will support the delivery of a broad range of finance functions, including financial accounting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, budgeting and reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Financial accounting, reconciliations and month-end reporting
- Banking, cash management and receipting
- Fixed asset management and depreciation
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Payroll, superannuation and payroll tax administration
- Year-end audit and compliance support
- Budget preparation, analysis and variance reporting
- Corporate credit card administration and expense reconciliation
About you
You are an organised and detail-oriented finance professional who takes pride in delivering accurate work,
meeting deadlines and maintaining confidentiality. You enjoy working collaboratively in a small team environment and are comfortable managing a mix of transactional and month-end accounting responsibilities.
What you'll bring
- 2-5 years' experience in an accounting, finance role
- Degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline
- CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) highly regarded
- Strong skills in reconciliations, month-end processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, GST and payroll administration
- Experience using accounting, payroll, payment verification and online banking systems, including Xero, EFTSure or similar platforms
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- High attention to detail, professionalism, discretion and strong communication skills.

The successful candidate will be required to complete relevant pre-employment checks, including a National Police Check.
