About the role
The Mary Valley Rattler is currently seeking the services of an experienced Service Attendant - Cafe to be part of our energetic and committed cafe team. As a cafe team member, you will be part of delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Reporting to the Operations & Marketing Manager duties will include:
Taking of customer food and beverage orders
Making coffee orders to customer requirements
Delivery of food and beverage orders to customers
Clearing tables and providing general kitchen / cleaning assistance
Supporting the onboard hospitality experience including riding on our variety of train services and actively selling our products
About the Mary Valley Rattler
The Mary Valley Rattler (MVR) is a not-for-profit organisation which provides public access to a heritage rail experience, promoting Gympie and the surrounding region.
MVR operates a fully restored steam locomotive and restore period carriages, departing from the beautifully restored Gympie Station. The MVR departs on a 46-kilometre return journey from Gympie Station to Amamoor, through the scenic Mary Valley.
MVR is committed to providing a safe and secure operating environment for all our guests, staff, and volunteers to enjoy.
Responsibilities
Taking of customer food and beverage orders
Making coffee orders to customer requirements
Delivery of food and beverage orders to customers
Clearing tables and providing general kitchen / cleaning assistance
Basic food preparation
Uphold food safety and hygiene standards including proper handling of food and adherence to sanitation protocols
Supporting the onboard hospitality experience including riding on our variety of train services and actively selling our products
Ability to engage with customers, address their needs, and provide excellence in customer service
Familiarity with the products and services offered including retail products, train services and café menus
Proactively promote product and services to drive sales at the Historic Gympie Station and onboard train services
Utilise suggestive selling techniques to encourage customers to purchase additional items or upgrades to improve their overall guest experience
Use of EFTPOS and Point of Sale system
Knowledge, Experience and Requirements
A minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role with a willingness to learn café processes
Barista or coffee making experience essential
Capable of working in a fast-paced setting with attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a teamincluding with volunteers
Great communication skills and ability to adapt to a changing environment
Excellent customer service skills and a genuine passion for working in hospitality
Ability to work within and contribute to enhancing existing processes
A high standard of personal presentation
Responsible Service of Alcohol - essential
A successful working with children check (Qld Blue Card) and national police check - requirement
