About the role

The Technical Officer will join a small, cooperative team supporting teaching and research operations across Biomedical Science, Chemistry and Physics, and Exercise and Sport Science within the School of Science and Technology.

The role is hands-on and laboratory-based at our Armidale campus, with important management responsibilities around facility operations, resource utilisation and administration. We provide high-quality technical and analytical services to the School and to other areas of UNE and externally.

We operate in a team-focused model where cooperation, shared workload and mutual support are priorities, and where morale and job satisfaction matter.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A genuine commitment to teamwork - respecting colleagues and contributing proactively to team objectives.
- Technical or scientific skills relevant to one or more of our Discipline areas (Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Physics, Exercise Science), whether specialised or general. Above all, we're looking for hands-on practicality combined with strong interpersonal and administrative capability.
- Personal resilience and the flexibility to manage periods of high-demand workload with inflexible deadlines,

including willingness to work overtime hours when required.
- A genuine willingness to take on new challenges - learning new skills, solving problems, contributing ideas and helping make our operations better.

About the School

The work is diverse, challenging and rewarding. Team members collaborate with students, teaching staff, technical experts and research leaders, contributing directly to UNE's educational and research mission, in a community where 81% of staff believe in the University's overall purpose.
