Estimator – Residential Extensions & Renovations

About the role

BPG Construction Solutions is a Brisbane-based building company specialising in residential renovations, extensions, and new builds. We’re looking for a sharp, detail-driven Estimator to price and prepare quotes for our residential extension and renovation projects.

This starts as a 3-day-per-week contract / temporary position, with a genuine pathway to grow into a part-time or full-time role for the right person. You’ll work closely with the builder and project management team, own the numbers on your jobs, and produce estimates that are accurate, complete, and ready to put in front of clients.

What you’ll do

- Price residential extension and renovation jobs from plans, specifications, and site information
- Use the Rawlinsons Australian Construction Handbook as your primary cost reference for pricing and rate build-ups
- Input and manage all costs through our Wunderbuild platform — this is where estimates, cost plans, and job pricing live
- Prepare clear, skilled quotes with a full schedule of inclusions and exclusions so there’s no ambiguity for the client
- Set and manage Provisional Sums (PS) and Prime Cost (PC) items accurately, with sound allowances
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to confirm rates and quotes
- Work with the builder and project managers to make sure estimates reflect the real scope and buildability of each job

What you’ll need





- Proven estimating experience in residential construction — specifically extensions and renovations
- Strong working knowledge of the Rawlinsons guide and the ability to build up accurate rates from it
- A solid understanding of structural engineering — you can read and interpret engineered drawings (footings, bored piers, slabs, steel, bracing) and accurately price the work they call for
- Solid understanding of Provisional Sums and PC items — how to set them, allow for them, and communicate them clearly
- Confidence reading residential plans and specifications
- A methodical approach to inclusions and exclusions — you understand how much a well-defined scope protects both the builder and the client
- Comfortable working with construction software; Wunderbuild experience is a plus, but we’ll get you up to speed if you’re a quick learner
- Reliable, self‑managing, and able to work independently from home for part of the week
- Current driver’s licence
