About the role

Motorcycle Holdings is Australia's largest motorcycle dealership group, and we're building our data and AI capability from the ground up. This is a hands‑on Data Engineer role within the Data & Insights team, responsible for building and maintaining the pipelines, models, and reporting foundations that power commercial decision‑making across the business.

You'll work directly within our Data Team inside of Motorcycle Holdings Digital, Data and Technology team, helping bring data from dealer management systems, ecommerce, and marketing platforms into a governed Snowflake workplace, and turning that into trusted, analytics‑ready datasets for the wider business.

What you'll be doing

- Build and maintain ELT pipelines bringing data from source systems (including AS400/iSeries), Maropost ecommerce, marketing platforms, and other sources) into Snowflake.
- Develop and maintain dbt models following our medallion architecture and modelling conventions.
- Design and build dimensional models (e.g. customer, vehicle, dealer, part dimensions and related fact tables) that support reliable, reusable reporting as well as future AI use‑cases.
- Work with Azure Data Factory and ADLS for ingestion pipelines where relevant, and support evaluation of iPaaS tooling.
- Contribute to AI initiatives across the business, including evaluation and integration of AI solutions (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, etc.), and support the design and development of agentic AI workflows and AI agents that extend the platform's capability.
- Troubleshoot data quality issues at the source (nulls, inconsistent keys, duplicate records) and build appropriate validation and cleansing logic.
- Support Power BI reporting by ensuring datasets are well‑modelled, high performing, and well documented.
- Implement and configure iPaaS integrations to connect operational systems, automate data movement,

and reduce manual handoffs across the business.
- Apply sound CI/CD, version control, and testing practices to the data platform, including code review and documentation standards.
- Work closely with the Head of Data & Insights, business analysts and reporting team, data engineering partners, and business stakeholders across ecommerce, marketing, and dealership operations to translate requirements into reliable data products.
- Contribute to data governance practices, including data quality monitoring and adherence to data standards as they mature.

What we're looking for

- Around 5 - 8 years' experience in data engineering, with demonstrable depth across pipeline delivery, data quality, and master data disciplines.
- Strong SQL and Python skills: you write clean, well‑structured, production‑grade code, and are comfortable using Python via Snowpark for complex logic that SQL can’t handle cleanly (entity resolution, probabilistic matching, DQ profiling).
- Solid Snowflake and dbt experience, including modelling conventions, testing frameworks, and documentation.
- Proven experience with master data management, entity resolution, or customer data matching - you understand golden record design and deduplication approaches, both deterministic and probabilistic.
- Experience building and governing reference data sets (hierarchies, lookups, classification schemes) that serve as canonical truth across multiple consumers.

- Practical experience with Azure Data Factory and ADLS for ingestion and orchestration.
- iPaaS experience: you have configured and delivered integrations, not just evaluated them
- Deep familiarity with data quality profiling, validation rule design, and DQ monitoring within a layered warehouse architecture.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modelling (star schemas, Kimball methodology) and ELT design patterns.
- Experience supporting BI tools (Power BI preferred) with well‑structured, high‑performing, and efficient datasets.
- Comfortable working with legacy and messy source systems, and confident communicating data quality issues and trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD practices, and agile delivery (Jira/Confluence or similar).
- A delivery‑first mindset: you scope clearly, build incrementally, hand over clean documented work, and are comfortable operating in a small, fast‑moving team where the platform is still being established.

Nice to have

- Experience in automotive, retail, or ecommerce data environments.
- Exposure to PIM, ERP, or dealer/franchise management systems.
- Experience with AS400/iSeries or other legacy ERP extraction.
- An interest in data governance and emerging AI/data practices.

Why join us

This is a 12-month contract with a clear mandate and immediate impact. The data platform is greenfield, the source systems are complex, and the work is real - you won't be maintaining someone else's legacy code or waiting for sign‑off on a roadmap that never moves. You'll have direct access to the Head of Data & Insights, the ELT, a well‑scoped backlog, and the autonomy to build things properly from day one. If you do your best work when the brief is "here's the problem, here's the stack, go build it" - this is that role for you.
