We are seeking a committed and results-driven Structural Engineer to join our engineering team based in the outer southern suburbs of Brisbane. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects across Australia, focusing on structural steel and welding design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze structural steel components, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and client specifications.
- Develop and review welding procedures and specifications to ensure structural integrity and quality.
- Conduct site inspections and supervise installations to verify adherence to design and safety standards.
- Ability to manage projects from conception through completion, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Prepare detailed reports, calculations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) certification (RPEV also preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in structural steel design.
- Proven experience in welding design, including the development of welding procedures and specifications.
- Demonstrated experience in site installation and supervision.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to travel for short-term assignments across Australia as required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience with structural analysis software such as SpaceGass or Strand7.
- Familiarity with relevant welding codes and standards (e.g., AS/NZS 1554).
- Experience with or desire to learn about fibreglass vessel design and construction.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
