Dalzell & Bagley Engineering (DBE) is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist Leading Hand to join our Archerfield facility. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a trade-qualified machinist with strong CNC programming, setup, and machining experience who enjoys leading a team while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

About the Role

Reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will lead a team of machinists while remaining actively involved in programming, setting, and operating CNC machinery. You will coordinate workflow, provide technical support, ensure quality standards are met, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop.

This role is ideal for a highly skilled CNC machinist looking to take the next step in their leadership career.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, mentor, and support a team of CNC machinists to achieve daily production targets.
- Program, set, and operate CNC Mills and Lathes using Fanuc, Okuma, and Haas controls.
- Coordinate workflow and allocate resources to maximise machine utilisation and productivity.
- Review engineering drawings, job packs, and customer specifications.
- Ensure all components are manufactured to specification and delivered on schedule.




- Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to minimise downtime.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives relating to safety, quality, productivity, and machining processes.
- Assist with training and development of apprentices and team members.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety, and quality throughout the workshop.

What You'll Bring

- Trade qualification in Engineering (Mechanical Trade/CNC Machining or equivalent).
- Proven experience programming, setting, and operating CNC machining centres.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or Leading Hand experience within a machining setting.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and CNC programming.
- Strong understanding of precision measurement and quality control processes.
