We are seeking a skilled Power Systems Engineer to join our growing team in Brisbane.
As a valued member of the team, you will have the opportunity to work within a consulting environment where you will be directly involved a variety of projects.
You will play a hands-on role delivering power system studies, analysis and design work, with exposure to a wide variety of systems and operating environments. The position offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, from initial modelling and design through to testing, commissioning and ongoing system support.
Working within a team of experienced engineers, you will be supported in developing your technical capability while also being given ownership of your own workstreams and client deliverables. The role provides a balance of office-based engineering and site-based exposure, making it well suited to engineers looking to build both depth and breadth in their power systems career.
Skills & Duties:
Perform power system modelling and analysis including load flow,
fault level, motor starting and arc flash studies
Develop and maintain models using tools such as ETAP or SKM PTW
Undertake protection coordination studies including overcurrent and earth fault protection
Contribute to the design of HV and MV power systems including single line diagrams and protection interfaces
Support earthing and lightning protection design in line with relevant standards
Prepare technical reports, calculations and engineering documentation
Review vendor designs and technical submissions for compliance
Participate in design reviews and technical discussions
Support factory acceptance testing and site-based commissioning activities
Assist with troubleshooting of power system and protection issues during project delivery
Collaborate with electrical, automation and project teams to meet project requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
Tertiary Qualification(s) in Electrical Engineering
BESS power system PSCAD/PowerFactory modelling and grid connection studies, with experience supporting AEMO connection applications, GPS compliance assessments,.
Demonstrated experience in power systems engineering within an industrial, utilities or consulting environment
Proven experience performing power system studies such as load flow, fault level and arc flash analysis
Hands-on use of power system modelling software such as ETAP, SKM PTW or equivalent
Practical understanding of protection systems and coordination, including overcurrent and earth fault protection
Experience working with HV or MV electrical systems in an operational or project delivery context
Ability to prepare accurate technical reports, calculations and engineering documentation suitable for client review
Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and their application in design and analysis
Demonstrated ability to contribute to project delivery, including working to scope, deadlines and quality requirements
Robust communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
