We are currently seeking experienced and resilient Youth Workers to join our growing team. This is a rewarding opportunity for professionals who are passionate about supporting young people with complex support needs while working within a Positive Behaviour Support framework.
About the Role
As a Youth Worker, you will provide one-on-one, person-centred support to young people with complex needs while promoting independence, emotional wellbeing, and community participation.
You will work within a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, implementing individual support plans while maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment for both participants and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, person-centred support.
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and individual support plans.
- Support daily living activities, community participation, and skill development.
- Build positive, professional relationships with participants.
- Maintain accurate case notes, incident reports, and daily documentation.
- Work collaboratively with families, allied health professionals, and internal support teams.
- Promote participant choice, dignity, and independence.
- Maintain safe work practices and follow organisational policies and procedures.
This Role Requires Someone Who
- Has demonstrated experience supporting young people with complex behavioural support needs.
- Is confident responding to behaviours of concern using proactive strategies, de-escalation techniques, and a calm, professional approach.
- Can remain calm, professional, and solution-focused under pressure.
- Has strong communication, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills.
- Understands trauma-informed and person-centred practice.
- Can work independently while contributing positively to a team setting.
- Is reliable, resilient, and committed to delivering high-quality support.
Shifts Available
7 days a week
6am-2pm | 2pm-10pm | Sleepover shifts
Essential Requirements
- Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services, Disability, Mental Health, or a related qualification (or currently studying).
- Current Driver Licence.
- Reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card).
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
- Smartphone with internet access.
- Ability to complete sleepover shifts.
Highly Desirable
- Experience supporting participants with high-intensity behavioural support needs.
- Youth Mental Health First Aid.
- Hope & Healing Foundational Training.
- CPI, PART, MAPA or other recognised behaviour management/de-escalation training.
- Experience working within Positive Behaviour Support frameworks.
