Seeking a full-time Accountant to join our Mechanical Workshop team based at Slacks Creek, QLD.
This role sits within our Financial Accounting & Reporting function and is pivotal to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance and providing essential financial information to support business decision-making. What you'll be doing
- Daily Cash flow forecasting updates to worksheet for distribution to management
- Monthly and annual reporting – General Ledger reconciliations and Management Reporting as required for Consolidated Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and financial metrics are required.
- Monthly /quarterly reporting, IAS, BAS, payroll tax and superannuation
- Weekly Key Statistics reports including, but not limited to, Work In Progress
- Co-ordination of annual budget and forecasts
- Analyse, review and coordinate Insurance policy packages.
- Daily preparation and submission of invoices
- Continual review and preparation of Progress Claims and Customer Deposits
- Oversee Daily AP and AR activities
- Maintenance and reconciliation of the Fixed Assets Register
- Maintain and reconcile CHP/Lease Schedules for equipment and motor vehicles
- Oversight of Account Receivable - ensuring timely and accurate recording
- Monthly accounts receivable performance
- Reporting results AP and AR to Banking Third Party – Collateral Certificates
- Debtor Collection and Control
- Oversight of Accounts payable - ensuring that all invoices are processed in a timely and accurate manner and monthly preparation of all Supplier Account Statements.
- Liaise with suppliers ensuring accounts are maintained for effective parts supply and release
- Review completed job costings to identify appropriate profits or losses
- Quarterly review of customer margins and appropriate pricing for continued company growth and competitive placement in the Heavy Diesel Servicing and Repair sector
- Regular review of labour rates based on internal salary and oncosts
- Prepare all month end journals for accurate accrual reporting
- Analyse and review Inventory regularly and coordinate annual stock take
- Audit inventory pricing structure and Integration with Xero Software
- Ensure any variances to the budgets are monitored and reported
- Establish and maintain all Debtors and Creditors application forms and relevant references
- Co-ordinate and prepare the payroll on a weekly basis, calculate and communicate employee entitlements. Supervise and approve weekly payroll.
- Assist with Onboarding, Process and submission of apprentice enrolments, subsidies and rebates
- Provide Monthly HR Leave transactions and Leave Balance reports
- Assist with workers compensation and insurances renewal and claims. Ensure safety measures are maintained and reviewed
- Oversee accounts and administration staff and act as a mentor/advisor
- Review and administer Software programs, Xero, MechanicDesk
- Provide insights into efficiencies within the business and uphold continual improvement processes within all aspects of the business.
- Adhere to the company policies and procedures
- Ensure documentation and company processes are adhered to
- Ensure all files are kept to company auditing standards
- Maintain highest level of confidentiality with regards to sensitive matters/documents
- Support senior management and adhere to the management strategic directions
- Liaise with external chartered accountant on necessary matters and end of year annual financial statement / company income tax return preparation
- Demonstrate the highest degree of professional integrity and responsibility
