Heron accommodates up to nearly 300guests and is located right on the Great Barrier Reef. Marine activities for guests and staff include world-class diving, snorkelling, kayaking and cruises

We are now seeking a qualifiedMarine Mechanicwho is ready to embrace our unique culture and contribute to the transformation of our extraordinary resort.

What You'll Be Doing

Servicing and maintenance of outboard motors and engines (buggy, telehandler...)

Diagnostics, repairs, and fault finding.

Boat fit-ups and electrical installations (12V).

Servicing & maintaining marine engines and drivetrains.

Performing on-water testing, collections, and deliveries.

Installing new engines and systems.

Repairing transmissions, driveline components, steering systems and running gear.

Completing engine removals, installations, repowers and commissioning.

Tracing wiring faults using a multimeter, wiring diagrams and diagnostic equipment.

Fabricating or modifying simple brackets, mounts and components when required.





Developing practical repair methods for unusual or unfamiliar problems.

Trailer servicing and mobile callouts.

Work in compliance with all company policies, including OHS and quality procedures.

Performing work aboard vessels, including in machinery spaces and confined areas.

This is a hands-on field-service role involving fault diagnosis, repairs, maintenance, engine replacements and mechanical installations. This role will suit someone who enjoys variety and gets genuine satisfaction from solving difficult mechanical problems.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Trade qualification as an Engineering Tradesperson (Mechanic), Cert III Marine Mechanical.

Marine industry experience.

Experience installing, diagnosing, and repairing 12-volt electrical systems.

Reliable, punctual, and excellent time-management skills.

A neat, organised approach with strong attention to detail.

Ability to think outside the box and problem-solve.

Self-motivated with pride in producing high-quality work.

Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Solid commitment to OH&S; standards.

Licences & Tickets

Telehandler licence (or willingness to obtain).

Certified Master V Skipper (highly regarded but not essential, willingness to obtain one).

Note this is a live-on role,please consider the reality of living in a remote location for an extended period of time.
