The Role
Air Lift Systems Program Office (ALSPO) is seeking a talented and experienced qualified to join our high performing Business Management team. The successful applicant will be accountable under broad direction to perform, contribute, and achieve very complex security work within an integrated workforce.
This position will be accountable for establishing a positive security culture and environment across the Medium Air Mobility Enterprise. They will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work standards and practices and act in accordance with Defence’s mission and business objectives. The Security Manager will be responsible for influencing security standards and be proficient in incident response co-ordination with a strong focus on integrity, giving attention to confidentiality requirements.
This position is required to identify and prioritise security risks and develop a strategy for mitigation or remediation. Every day your work will make an impact that matters to Australia’s National interests while you thrive in a dynamic and unique environment.
About our Team
The Air Lift Systems Program Office (ALSPO) at RAAF Base Richmond sits within the Airlift and Tanker Systems Branch of the Aerospace Systems Division. ALSPO is the in-service support agency responsible for sustaining and enhancing the RAAF’s C-130J Hercules and C-27J Spartan aircraft and for providing support to the sustainment of the Australian Defence Force’s Aerospace Simulators and training systems. ALSPO, in partnership with industry, exists to support Air Force’s Air Mobility Group achieve its mission by providing effective sustainment support solutions.
The Business Management Unit within ALSPO is a highly capable and professional team operating in a dynamic and challenging work environment supporting Defence capability. Given the integrated nature of our business, building and maintaining cooperative and collaborative relationships are fundamental to our success.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate is an innovative and experienced analyst who can professionally deliver a governance and assurance program and who has the ability to quickly build an in-depth knowledge of Government Security requirements and frameworks. They will exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation, development and application of these policies, practices and procedures. They will provide detailed security, technical, professional advice which will contribute to program management and planning.
The Security Manager will be accountable to manage workflows and is expected to build team capability by developing quality products and building and sustaining productive and collaborative relationships. They will be enthusiastic and self-motivated and thrive on producing quality work in a fast paced and complex environment.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Ability to interpret and apply PSPF and government security requirements to support compliance and risk management.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess information and provide practical recommendations.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to build productive relationships and positively influence security and governance outcomes.
- Experience delivering security, governance, assurance or compliance activities in a complex environment.
- Ability to exercise judgement, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes with a high degree of autonomy.
- Ability to contribute to team performance through collaboration, knowledge sharing and capability development.
