ROLE – Process Engineer – Water & Wastewater

SALARY - $130,000 - $170,000 per annum, dependent on experience

TYPE – Permanent

LOCATION – Sydney, NSW

My client provides specialist engineering solutions across the Water and Wastewater sector, delivering innovative treatment systems and engineered solutions for industrial and infrastructure projects.

They are looking for a Process Engineer to join their growing team in Sydney. This role would suit an engineer with experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, industrial process engineering, chemical dosing systems, filtration, membrane technologies, or similar process engineering environments.

The Process Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

- At least 2 years of experience in a Process, Chemical, Mechanical, or Project Engineering role
- Experience working on Water, Wastewater, Industrial Process, Utilities, or similar engineering projects
- Experience developing process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic calculations, and equipment sizing
- Able to read and interpret P&IDs;, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and engineering drawings
- Experience selecting and specifying process equipment such as pumps, valves, tanks, dosing systems, filtration equipment, and instrumentation
- Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline




- Experience supporting projects from concept design through commissioning and handover
- Able to manage technical deliverables, project timelines, and engineering documentation
- Familiarity with Australian Water Industry standards and design practices would be advantageous
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary engineering team

The Process Engineer role will involve:

- Developing process designs for water and wastewater treatment systems
- Producing process calculations, equipment specifications, hydraulic models, and design documentation
- Preparing and reviewing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs;, process datasheets, and technical reports
- Supporting the design and optimisation of water and wastewater treatment plants and packaged treatment systems
- Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors, and manufacturing partners to ensure successful project outcomes
- Supporting equipment selection, procurement, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site commissioning, and performance testing
- Providing technical support during installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and process optimisation activities
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, client specifications, and industry best practice
- Working within a cooperative, growing engineering team delivering innovative water infrastructure projects
