We are looking for a capable, reliable and highly detail-oriented Hotel Operations Assistant to support the day-to-day operation of The Ember Hotel, a new 15-room boutique concept hotel in Launceston.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes genuine pride in presentation, enjoys working independently and understands how the small details shape a guest's experience.
The hotel will use automated check-in and check-out systems and will not operate a traditional staffed reception desk. During rostered hours, you will be the main onsite operational presence, ensuring rooms and common areas meet our standards and assisting guests when required.
The role
Inspect cleaned rooms and ensure they are ready for arriving guests.
Maintain high presentation and cleanliness standards throughout the hotel.
Oversee the performance and quality of housekeeping contractors.
Monitor linen, amenities, consumables and operational supplies.
Assist guests onsite during rostered hours.
Respond to guest emails and routine operational enquiries.
Identify and coordinate maintenance or service issues.
Communicate operational matters and opportunities for improvement to the owners.
Help refine hotel checklists, procedures and quality-control systems.
Depending on your experience, there may also be opportunities to assist with brand presentation,
content ideas and simple marketing activities.
About you
Exceptional attention to detail.
Dependable, organised and comfortable working independently.
Warm and professional communication style.
A practical, solutions-focused approach and willingness to take ownership.
Confidence providing feedback and maintaining standards with contractors.
Comfort using email, booking platforms and digital systems.
Previous experience in hotels, accommodation, hospitality, property operations or another quality-focused service setting.
Experience overseeing cleaners, housekeeping teams or contractors would be highly regarded.
Hours
This is a part-time role of approximately 20-24 hours per week across four days. The role is expected to include Wednesday to Saturday, although some flexibility may be available for the right applicant. Additional agreed hours may be available for holiday or leave coverage.
What we offer
A consistent four-day part-time role.
Mostly daytime hours.
The opportunity to help shape the systems and standards of a new hotel.
A varied role combining quality control, guest service and practical hotel operations.
Competitive hourly remuneration based on experience, plus applicable penalty rates and superannuation.
