ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join the Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS) at WASH House and play a vital role in supporting women and children experiencing domestic and family violence across Northwest Sydney. Through a specialist, trauma-informed and culturally safe approach, WDVCAS prioritises the safety, dignity and wellbeing of victim-survivors by providing advocacy, court support, safety planning, referrals and coordinated responses.

As a WDVCAS Case Worker, you will provide trauma-informed case management to women experiencing domestic and family violence, including those with complex needs impacting their safety and wellbeing. Working collaboratively with police, courts, legal services and community agencies, you will deliver risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, referrals and ongoing case coordination to strengthen safety, stability and access to essential services.

ABOUT YOU

You are a compassionate and skilled practitioner with experience providing trauma-informed case management and support to women experiencing domestic and family violence, including those with complex needs impacting their safety and wellbeing. You are confident undertaking risk assessments, safety planning, advocacy,



referrals and ongoing case coordination, and are committed to supporting women to strengthen their safety, stability and access to essential services.

You have strong communication and collaboration skills and can build effective working relationships with clients, police, courts, legal services and community agencies to deliver coordinated, client-centred responses. You work from a strengths-based and culturally responsive approach and are committed to supporting positive outcomes for women and children affected by domestic and family violence.

REQUIREMENTS

- Relevant qualifications in social work, community services, psychology, or a related field and/or commensurate experience.
- Demonstrated experience of minimum 2 years in community services work.
- Commitment to working within a feminist framework and understanding of social policy and issues that face women in Western Sydney.
- Demonstrated experience in case management;
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis and provide appropriate, trauma informed support;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multifunctional team;
- Understanding of domestic and family violence, its complexities and consequences;
- Understanding of intersectionality between social issues and domestic and family violence, in particular the barriers that women may face when seeking assistance;
- Knowledge of the criminal justice response to domestic and family violence;
- Ability to take a person-centred and non-judgemental approach when working with clients;
- Ability to deliver services in accordance with the WDVCAP Service Agreement, WDVCAP Policy and Procedure Manual, WDVCAS Case Management Policy and other operational documents;




- Ability to work with local communities and services to promote awareness of domestic and family violence and WDVCAS services;
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution;
- Knowledge of and an ability to work effectively with interpreter services;
- Ability to meet with clients away from the WDVCAS office in accordance with safety assessments and processes;
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills; and
- Current Working with Children Check and NSW Police Force criminal record check.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to use own car
- Experience working within specialist domestic and family violence services, including supporting women experiencing high-risk or complex circumstances.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally responsive practice frameworks.
- Experience working collaboratively with courts, police, legal services and interagency networks to support coordinated client outcomes.
- Understanding of child-aware practice and the impacts of domestic and family violence on children and young people.
- Experience facilitating community engagement, service coordination and cross-sector partnerships to improve access to support services for women experiencing domestic and family violence.
