Bentley Excavations is seeking a skilled and reliable GPS Excavator Operator to join our team on a casual basis. Based in Hervey Bay, QLD, this role offers flexibility and the opportunity to work on diverse construction and excavation projects. As an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating excavation equipment to support our construction operations, demonstrating precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety at all times.
What you’ll be doing
- Operating excavators and other earthmoving equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with all relevant regulations and site requirements
- Positioning and manoeuvring equipment to perform excavation, grading, and material handling tasks
- Monitoring equipment performance and reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance requirements to supervisors
- Communicating effectively with site supervisors, spotters, and other team members to ensure safe and coordinated operations
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed and equipment usage
- Adhering to all site-specific safety protocols and contributing to a positive safety culture
- Assisting with equipment setup, breakdown, and relocation between job sites as required
- Performing pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition
What we’re looking for
- Current and valid Heavy Equipment Operator certification or equivalent qualifications recognised in Queensland
- Proven experience operating excavators in construction or related industries
- Current class C driver's licence or higher
- Valid Construction Induction Card (White Card)
or willingness to obtain one
- Knowledge of excavation best practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively on site
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety protocols
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work on a casual basis
- Experience with different types of excavators and equipment attachments
- GPS experience
