An established Australian infrastructure organisation is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to join its technology portfolio on a permanent basis.
This role will take ownership of a significant pipeline of core infrastructure projects spanning server platforms, networks, end-user computing, ServiceNow and supporting operational technologies.
The successful candidate will be a highly capable infrastructure project manager who can work independently with technical and operations teams, establish clear delivery structures and maintain momentum without requiring close supervision.
This is not simply a project coordination position. You will be expected to take accountability, anticipate problems and actively drive projects through to completion.
The role also offers the opportunity to become a senior and trusted member of the portfolio, informally supporting the Portfolio Delivery Manager and stepping into broader leadership responsibilities when required.
The Portfolio
Initial priorities are expected to include:
- A Windows Server refresh involving more than 400 servers
- UPS and supporting infrastructure renewal
- End-user computing initiatives
- ServiceNow-related projects
- Broader infrastructure lifecycle and refresh programs
- Selected cybersecurity initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver multiple infrastructure projects from initiation through completion
- Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules and governance
- Work directly with infrastructure, operations and security teams
- Manage risks, issues, dependencies, vendors and delivery partners
- Provide transparent reporting and reliable visibility of project performance
- Build effective relationships with technical and business stakeholders
- Maintain momentum across competing projects and priorities
- Guide project team members and contractors where required
- Support a proactive and accountable delivery culture
- Provide informal portfolio leadership when required
About You
You will have a strong track record delivering technology infrastructure projects and will be comfortable working directly with technical and operational specialists.
Your experience is likely to include several of the following:
- Server upgrades, migrations or refresh programs
- Network upgrades or transformation
- End-user computing
- ServiceNow
- Data centre or platform infrastructure
You will bring strong project management fundamentals across planning, governance, budgets, risks, dependencies and stakeholder engagement.
Most importantly, you will be proactive, self-sufficient and comfortable taking ownership. You will know how to create structure, engage the right people and move projects forward without waiting to be told what to do next.
Previous formal people leadership is not essential. However, experience mentoring others, guiding delivery teams or informally supporting a portfolio or program leader will be highly regarded.
What’s on Offer
- Broad exposure across enterprise technology infrastructure
- Opportunity to operate as an informal 2IC
- Ability to influence delivery culture and standards
- Remuneration around $200,000 inclusive of superannuation
- Additional 10% target short-term incentive
Applications are welcomed from experienced infrastructure project managers across a range of sectors. Utilities or regulated industry experience will be viewed positively but is not essential.
