Field Service Technician / Analytical Instruments

Amscorp Scientific supplies and services specialist analytical instruments used by pharmaceutical, biotech, food & beverage, and industrial customers across Australia and New Zealand.

Amscorp is expanding its service capability across Australia and selected international markets, and we are looking for a practical, reliable Field Service Technician to grow with the business.

This role suits someone who enjoys fixing technical problems, working hands‑on with equipment, travelling to customer sites, and building deep product knowledge over time.

You do not need to know every instrument from day one. The right person will be technically minded, organised, good with customers, and willing to learn.

About the role

You will support the installation, calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of analytical instruments at customer sites and from our Sydney office.

The work includes a mix of workshop preparation, customer site visits, documentation, technical support, interstate travel, and occasional international travel as Amscorp continues to expand. International travel may be required for supplier training, customer support, installations, or service projects.

Interstate travel is usually about every 2 weeks and may range from a day trip to a few nights away.

Whilst not travelling for service work, the role will include assisting with operational activities including shipping, internal projects etc.

Key responsibilities

- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and service work on analytical instruments
- Diagnose and troubleshoot instrument issues
- Assist with instrument installations, upgrades, testing, and commissioning
- Prepare service reports, calibration records, and customer documentation
- Communicate clearly with customers before, during, and after service visits
- Work with the internal team and suppliers to resolve technical issues
- Maintain service tools, spare parts, and equipment readiness

- Support customers with basic training and good instrument-use practices
- Follow quality, safety, and site access requirements for regulated customer environments
- Perform all required operational activities including shipping, internal projects etc.

What we are looking for

- Must-have:
- Strong hands-on technical aptitude
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- High attention to detail, especially with documentation
- Clear communication and professional customer manner
- Ability to work independently once trained
- Current driver’s license
- Willingness to travel interstate and occasionally internationally when required
- Permanent Australian work rights
- Ability to pass police/background checks and maintain customer site clearances
- Nice-to-have:
- Experience servicing laboratory, scientific, medical, or industrial equipment
- Electronics, mechatronics, instrumentation, calibration, or mechanical background
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, food & beverage, GMP, or laboratory environments
- Familiarity with analytical instruments such as TOC, CCIT, HPLC, GC, or similar systems
- Previous field service experience

What success looks like

In your first 30 days, you will learn our key products, shadow service jobs, understand our documentation standards, and get familiar with our customer base.

In your first 90 days, you will begin completing supervised service, calibration, and preventative maintenance work.

Within 6 months, the goal is for you to handle routine service visits independently, with support available for more complex jobs.
