About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounts Receivable Manager to join our finance team, based in Macquarie Park, NSW, on a full-time basis. This role is pivotal in managing our accounts receivable function and ensuring optimal cash flow for the organisation. As Accounts Receivable Manager, you will oversee the collection of outstanding invoices, credit management, and the overall financial health of our receivables portfolio. This position reports directly to the Financial Controller and plays a critical role in supporting the company's financial objectives and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the accounts receivable team, including staff scheduling, performance management, and professional development
- Oversee the timely invoicing, billing, and collection of outstanding customer payments
- Monitor aged receivables reports and implement strategies to reduce outstanding debts and improve collection rates
- Establish and maintain effective credit policies and procedures to minimise bad debts and credit risk
- Conduct credit assessments for current and existing customers, making recommendations on credit limits and terms
- Prepare and present regular accounts receivable reports, including aging analysis and collection performance metrics, to senior management
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, disputed invoices, and customer payment issues
- Liaise with customers regarding outstanding balances and facilitate payment arrangements where necessary
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant legislation
- Utilise accounting software and systems to record transactions, reconcile accounts, and generate financial reports
- Collaborate with other departments including sales, customer service, and finance to support business objectives
Skills/Experience Required
- 5+ years' experience in accounts receivable or credit control management within a professional services,
healthcare, or corporate environment
- Demonstrated experience managing and leading a team of finance or accounts receivable staff
- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable processes, credit management principles, and collection strategies
- Proficiency with accounting software and financial systems, such as NetSuite, Xero, or enterprise accounting platforms
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent understanding of accounting principles, GST compliance, and financial reporting requirements in Australia
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial record-keeping and reporting
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks, work efficiently under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, CA, or a relevant accounting diploma are highly desirable
- Knowledge of healthcare or aged care sector accounting practices would be advantageous
