Career Development Role — Reverse Mortgage Broking

About Seniors First

Seniors First is one of Australia’s leading specialist reverse mortgage brokers. For more than 20 years, we have helped older Australians understand their options, access home equity safely, and make more confident financial decisions in retirement.

We work with customers who are often making an important later-life financial decision, so our approach is built on education, care, trust and professionalism.

We are now looking for a Broker Associate to join our team. This is a career development opportunity for someone currently working in a mortgage support, lending, loan administration, banking, financial services or customer support role who wants to build a long-term career as a specialist broker.

About the Role

The Broker Associate role is designed as a structured pathway into becoming a reverse mortgage broker with Seniors First.

Over the first 12 to 24 months, you will gain hands‑on experience across the core functions of the business, including:

- The phone and client enquiry team
- Broker support and loan administration
- Client and lender follow‑up
- Reverse mortgage application support
- Working directly with our specialist brokers

You will learn how reverse mortgages work, how customers are assessed, how lenders process applications, and how to support older Australians through a careful, compliant and education‑led lending process.

This is not a traditional sales support role. It is a genuine career progression opportunity for someone who wants to become a professional broker over time.

Key Responsibilities

Client Enquiry and Phone Team Support

You will help support incoming enquiries from prospective customers, many of whom are at the early stage of exploring a reverse mortgage.

This may include:

- Booking appointments with brokers
- Following up with customers who have requested information

- Helping maintain accurate notes and records in our CRM
- Providing a calm and helpful first point of contact for people who may feel unsure or overwhelmed

Broker Support and Loan Administration

You will work with our broker support officers and loan administration team to understand the operational side of the business.

This may include:

- Assisting with loan application preparation
- Helping collect and check supporting documents
- Liaising with clients to obtain missing information
- Updating file notes and application records
- Supporting compliance and responsible lending documentation
- Tracking application progress from enquiry through to settlement
- Helping ensure files are complete, accurate and well organised
- Assisting with lender submission and post‑submission follow‑up

Broker and Lender Follow‑Up

You will support our specialist reverse mortgage brokers with client and lender follow‑up throughout the loan journey.

This may include:

- Following up with lenders on application status
- Updating clients on progress and next steps
- Helping brokers prepare for client meetings
- Assisting with information requests from lenders
- Coordinating communication between clients, brokers, lenders and support staff
- Helping ensure customers receive timely and skilled service
- Identifying issues early and escalating them appropriately

Learning and Development

As part of the role, you will be expected to actively build your knowledge and capability in mortgage broking, reverse mortgages and later‑life lending.

This will include:

- Learning reverse mortgage product features, lender policies and eligibility rules
- Understanding responsible lending obligations and compliance requirements
- Developing strong client communication skills
- Learning how brokers assess customer needs and recommend suitable loan structures
- Observing broker meetings and client conversations where appropriate
- Participating in training, coaching and performance reviews
- Working towards the skills, knowledge and accreditation required to become a broker

Career Pathway

The intended pathway for this role is progression into a Reverse Mortgage Broker position within approximately 12 to 24 months, depending on performance, capability, training progress and business needs.

This pathway may include:

- Initial training across phone support, loan administration and broker support
- Increased responsibility for client and lender follow‑up

- Deeper involvement in application structuring and client scenarios
- Broker shadowing and mentoring
- Completion of relevant industry training and accreditation requirements
- Transition into a broker role when ready

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is ambitious, coachable and looking to build a meaningful career in a specialist area of mortgage broking.

You may already be working as a:

- Loan processor
- Mortgage broker assistant
- Client services officer
- Lending support officer
- Banking or finance customer service representative
- Loan administration officer

- The ability to follow processes carefully
- A willingness to learn lending policy, compliance and product detail
- A customer‑first mindset
- Patience and respect when dealing with older customers
- The ability to work well with brokers, support teams and management

Experience in mortgage broking support or loan processing will be highly regarded, but attitude, professionalism and willingness to learn are just as important.
