We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Chef/Cook to join our kitchen team at Bridges hill bistro in Cessnock, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our culinary operations and help us maintain our reputation for excellent food and service. As a Chef/Cook, you will play a vital role in our kitchen, working collaboratively with our team to prepare high-quality dishes that delight our guests. This position is based on-site at our Cessnock location and offers the chance to work in a dynamic hospitality environment.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency across all dishes
- Ensuring proper food storage, handling, and hygiene practices in compliance with food safety regulations
- Managing preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning
- Working efficiently during service periods to meet orders within required timeframes
- Contributing to menu development and suggesting creative culinary ideas
- Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen workspace and equipment
- Collaborating with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team to deliver seamless guest experiences
- Following all health and safety procedures and company policies
- Assisting with inventory management and stock rotation as required
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Chef/Cook in a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and during busy service periods
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- A passion for quality food and attention to detail in presentation and taste
- Physical fitness and stamina to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Flexibility with scheduling, including potential weekends and public holidays
- Current Food Safety Supervisor certification or willingness to obtain one is desirable
- Relevant culinary qualifications or training is preferred but not essential if you have substantial practical experience
