About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of Hotel Morris.
As Assistant Manager, you'll lead by example across all areas of the hotel including Front Office, Bar Morris, Breakfast service and Housekeeping. One moment you'll be welcoming VIP guests, the next you'll be supporting breakfast service, assisting behind the bar during a busy evening or coaching the team to deliver exceptional service.
Whether you're an experienced Front Office professional wanting to build your Food & Beverage leadership skills, or a passionate Food & Beverage leader looking to expand into Front Office and hotel operations, this role is designed to help you become a well‑rounded hotel leader. You'll be supported by an experienced leadership team while gaining exposure across every aspect of a boutique hotel operation.
About You
We're looking for someone who genuinely loves hospitality and enjoys leading from the front.
You'll ideally bring:
- Previous leadership experience within a hotel, premium restaurant or hospitality environment.
- A passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
- A hands‑on leadership style with the confidence to support multiple departments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience using Opera Cloud and Microsoft Office (preferred).
- RSA and First Aid Certificates.
- A high standard of personal presentation.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences from arrival through to departure.
- Welcome VIP guests and personally manage special requests.
- Anticipate guest needs and ensure every interaction reflects our boutique hospitality standards.
- Resolve guest concerns confidently and professionally, ensuring positive outcomes.
- Build genuine relationships with guests to create memorable stays and encourage loyalty.
Food & Beverage
- Lead the daily operation of Bar Morris and Breakfast service.
- Support the team during busy service periods by working alongside them on the floor.
- Maintain exceptional food, beverage and service standards.
- Drive food and beverage sales through product knowledge and personalised recommendations.
- Ensure RSA, food safety and cleanliness standards are consistently maintained.
Hotel Operations
- Coordinate daily operations across Front Office, Food & Beverage and Housekeeping.
- Review arrival lists and anticipate guest requirements.
- Maintain strong communication between departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Conduct daily shift briefings and ensure effective handovers.
- Work closely with Housekeeping and Maintenance to ensure rooms and public areas meet brand standards.
- Assist with Night Audit when operationally required.
- Manage emergency situations, conduct incident reporting and act as Fire Warden when required.
- Support payroll, rostering and administrative tasks alongside the Operations Manager.
- Coach, train and develop team members across multiple departments.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of hotel facilities, room types, local attractions and current hotel activities.
