Practice Information:

This regional Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service's objective is to provide access to high quality, community controlled primary health care and social and emotional wellbeing services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the South Burnett region of Queensland.

The Benefits:

- Provide excellent clinical care, in keeping with accepted best practice standards, and the CRAICCHS model of care
- Provide skilled health assessment, diagnosis and treatment services to patients
- Perform and oversee the delivery of comprehensive preventive health assessments and prepare client care plans that comply with MBS standards, for clients across the age spectrum, and provide leadership for the multidisciplinary team in delivery of coordinated care planning for clients with complex chronic care needs
- Order diagnostic tests as needed and checking and informing patients of results in accordance with the practice's procedure
- Maintaining professional knowledge and standards through continuing medical education and personal professional development
- Having a working knowledge of legislation and standards of general practice




- Maintain a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate at all times
- Practice medicine in a way that reflects the organisations values and mission
- Maintain trust and professional relationships with patients
- Provide services courteously and respectfully, with regard to the cultural beliefs and needs of patients
- Charge for consultations in accordance with the practice's policy whilst optimising uptake and income generation across the service through MBS billings
- Prepare reports and legal summaries for government departments and other relevant agencies e.g. Work cover, Centrelink, etc. as required
- Complete required documents in an accurate, productive and timely manner
- Provide leadership in the safety and quality of clinical services delivered by the health team.

Position Description:

- Deliver high quality, culturally responsive General Practitioner services with a focus on holistic, patient centred primary health care within a supportive Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled workplace.
- The position will be supported by Aboriginal Health Workers,



Registered Nurses and a Senior Medical Officer to ensure continuity of care and a genuine connection with the Community.

Key Requirements:

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

- Vocational registration (fellowship of RACGP / ACRRM)
- Full registration with AHPRA.
- Up to date immunisations in line with Vaccination of Healthcare Workers Guidelines including vaccination against vaccine preventable diseases and compliance with CRAICCHS employment health requirements.
- Commitment to culturally safe, community-controlled health care and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health advancement.
- The willingness to provide a current criminal history check.
- Current driver licence.
- Although not essential requirements, preference will be shown to those also able to offer any pf the following:
- Experience working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services or rural / remote primary care settings.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues and social determinants of health.
- Experience in chronic disease management, family medicine and preventative care.
- Interest in mentoring Aboriginal Health workers or students.

About Cherbourg:

Cherbourg, an Aboriginal community town 170 km north-west of Brisbane, is on the Barambah Creek. It is located in Wakka Wakka tribal boundaries, near the border of Gubbi Gubbi territory.

Following successful placement, eligible candidates may be entitled to receive support and financial assistance through Health Workforce Queensland's comprehensive workforce attraction and retention incentives.
