Coal Services is seeking an experienced mining professional to join our Mine Safety Occupational Hygiene (MSOH) team as a Coal Industry Act Inspector. Reporting to the MSOH Operations Manager, in this role, you will play a critical part in protecting the health of NSW coal mine workers through statutory dust monitoring and occupational hygiene services across underground and surface operations.
This is a hands‑on, field‑based role offering variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to work directly with workers, mine management and regulators.
About the role:
- Conduct statutory dust monitoring at NSW underground and surface coal mines
- Deliver occupational hygiene assessments and services
- Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate statutory and commercial monitoring programs
- Engage with mine personnel, clients, and regulatory authorities
- Support compliance and continuous improvement in health and safety practices
This role requires regular travel to regional mine sites and solid communication skills to work effectively across all levels of the industry.
About You:
To be successful you will have:
- 10 years underground mining experience (desirable)
- Sound understanding of underground mining processes, airborne dust risks and controls
- Mining‑related qualifications (e.g. Undermanager, Deputy, Trade, OHS) (desirable)
- Experience with occupational hygiene or regulatory compliance (desirable)
- Availability to travel to regional mine sites
- Proven report writing and technical documentation skills
- Ability to work independently in a regulated environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- High level of computer literacy and numeracy
- Drivers' license (NSW)
- Fit to work in an underground environment and maintain industry emergency accreditation
