About the Role

We have multiple opportunities available for operators on our sprayed sealing crews working remote WA and Pilbara projects. Depending on your experience, that may be running the bitumen sprayer, operating the aggregate spreader, or both. These are skilled operating roles for people who understand sealing works, know how to set up and run the plant, and take pride in a clean, even result that lasts.

What you'll be doing

Across these roles, depending on your experience and the position you're suited to:

- Operating the bitumen sprayer to apply binder to MRWA and project specifications
- Operating the aggregate (chip) spreader to apply cover aggregate at the correct spread rate
- Setting up, calibrating and adjusting the spray bar and/or spreader for correct application and coverage
- Managing binder type, temperature and spray rates, and aggregate spread rates, across single/double, primer and reseal works
- Operating rollers as part of the sealing run
- Hand-spraying with a lance for edges, joints and detailed areas
- Loading and handling hot bitumen, emulsion and modified binders safely
- Reading and working to seal designs and job specifications
- Daily pre-start checks, calibration and basic maintenance on the plant
- Working safely around plant, hot binder and live traffic, often on or near operating mine sites




- Keeping the work area clean, safe and compliant, and following site safety and quality requirements

Essential:

- Experience operating sprayer, spreader or roller plant on spray sealing works
- A sound understanding of seal designs, binders, aggregates and application rates
- Willingness and availability to work FIFO / DIDO on a 2:1 roster across remote WA and the Pilbara
- HR licence (or higher)
- A reliable, team-first attitude and a strong work ethic
- Good physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in remote conditions and extreme heat
- Construction Induction (White Card)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and ongoing fitness-for-work requirements, including pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing

Highly regarded (not essential):

- HC or MC licence
- Relevant plant tickets / VOCs (sprayer, aggregate / chip spreader, rollers)
- Experience with polymer modified binders (PMB) and emulsions
- Current mine site inductions or experience working on resource sites
- Traffic management tickets (TMI / TC)
- Civil or road construction experience
