About the role

RAM Builders Group is seeking a Design/Estimator to join our growing team in Loganholme, Queensland. This is a full-time position that combines design expertise with detailed cost estimation skills. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the pre-construction phase of our projects, translating client requirements into detailed designs whilst providing accurate cost assessments that inform project viability and pricing strategy. Your work will directly impact project success, client satisfaction, and the company's competitive positioning in the construction market.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing detailed design drawings and specifications based on client requirements and site assessments
- Conducting comprehensive cost estimates and material takeoffs for construction projects of varying complexity
- Collaborating with architects, engineers, clients, and project managers to develop feasible and cost-effective solutions
- Analysing project scope and specifications to identify potential cost drivers and optimisation opportunities
- Preparing quotations and tender documents for client presentations
- Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and product information
- Utilising industry-standard software and tools to create accurate estimates and design documentation
- Reviewing designs for constructability and cost-effectiveness before project commencement
- Maintaining detailed records of estimates, historical data, and project costs for future reference
- Supporting the sales and project teams in client meetings and site inspections

What we're looking for

- Proven experience in construction estimating or quantity surveying, with a strong understanding of construction methodologies and costs




- Proficiency in design software such as Sketchup or simlar.
- Competency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Solid knowledge of building materials, labour costs, and construction industry pricing
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information clearly to diverse stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- Sound understanding of building codes, regulations, and construction standards relevant to Queensland
- Problem-solving mindset with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a cooperative team
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in estimating, quantity surveying, or construction management are preferred
