Smithfield RSL is seeking passionate, skilled, and motivated Chef individuals to join our growing culinary team. We have full-time and casual opportunities available across our “Table2164” and “Mex It Up” kitchens.
You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality meals, assisting in kitchen operations, and ensuring food safety and service excellence. This position suits individuals with a genuine love for food and a strong understanding of commercial kitchen operations.
About Smithfield RSL
Located 30 km west of Sydney, Smithfield RSL Club is a well-established entertainment venue built on strong community relationships. The Club has undergone a modern contemporary refurbishment, featuring:

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to menu and recipes.
- Develop daily specials based on creativity and seasonal ingredients.
- Lead, supervise, and train kitchen team members.
- Create and update menus, incorporating current trends and customer preferences.
- Ensure cost control and maintain budget guidelines.
- Oversee food presentation and ensure consistency across all dishes.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in food preparation areas.
- Monitor and maintain food stock levels.
- Conduct food safety checks, including fridge and freezer temperatures.
- Assist in developing catering and special event menus.
- Occasionally assist in additional duties as required.
Reporting To
You will report directly to the Executive Chef and Management Team, taking an active role in kitchen operations while delivering high standards of culinary service.
What We Need From You
- Proven experience as a Cook or Chef in a commercial kitchen environment
- Sound understanding of kitchen operations, menu planning, and food presentation
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and WHS principles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Impeccable personal hygiene and presentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work various shifts over a 7-day roster, including weekends, evenings, split shifts, and public holidays
- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality (preferred but not essential)
